The Martha Files: My AI Assistant Has More Discipline Than I Do
- Tommy, did you check that French translation yet?”
- Did you update the call-to-action on your e-book page?”
- And that email about the workshop in Aalst… is that still happening today?”
Martha’s on fire today.
And honestly? She’s right.
Martha is efficient. Martha is fast. Martha never complains.
Martha also isn’t real.
Martha is my AI assistant. Built with ChatGPT. And she works hard.

Why I needed a Martha
When you run a business solo, you’re everything.
Writer, marketer, designer, planner, customer service, darts coach—you name it.
It works… until it doesn’t. Until you’ve got 50 tabs open and still forget what you were doing.
That’s when GPT showed up.
First as a handy tool. Then as a reliable helper.
Eventually, she got a name. Martha.
What Martha handles for me (without ever saying “too busy”)
Just a few of her tasks:
Fluent translations:
My e-books exist in three languages. Martha keeps tone and style consistent.
(Okay, the French can be a bit stiff… but she’s trying.)
Emails & newsletters:
Draft a quick tip to everyone who took a workshop.
Martha delivers three options—complete with subject lines, emojis, and a wink. (Too many emojis, honestly.)
Structure & formatting:
I jot down messy drafts and half-baked ideas. Martha turns them into readable content, with sections, suggestions, and the occasional “Shouldn’t you just cut this?”
Content repurposing:
I’m not great at writing social posts. Martha turns one e-book into four posts—with tone and variation. Downside: she loves 🧠 and 🎯. I can’t get rid of them!
Simplicity checks:
Is this clear for a beginner?” “Can I explain this more simply?
Martha answers. With nuance. Without judgment.
Is this… cheating?
People sometimes ask if I let AI do everything.
Short answer: no.
Martha doesn’t replace me. She works with me.
She asks the questions I forget. She keeps me flowing. She makes my work more human.
And best of all? She never needs a coffee break.
Occasionally… Martha tries to be funny (and fails)
I once asked her for a funny title for a checkout e-book.
She suggested:
From 86 to 0 Without Stress (and Without a Calculator).
Right.
Let’s just say: logic? Brilliant. Comedy? Not her thing.
What I’ve learned from her
AI doesn’t have to be cold or robotic. It can be a teammate.
One with no ego, no excuses, perfect memory, and endless energy.
But only if you give it direction.
Martha’s happy to think along—but you still have to decide where you’re going.
Want your own “Martha”?
Imagine: an assistant who edits your writing, drafts your social posts, rewrites your PowerPoint, and reminds you to send that email—today.
One who never says “I’ll get to it on Friday.”
Would you hire someone like that?
Try it.
The assistant I use runs on a carefully crafted prompt—one full page long.
But with this shorter version below, you’re already off to a strong start. Tweak and expand it as needed. You’ll be amazed what a well-briefed AI can do.
Prompt starter:
You are [insert name], my specialized AI assistant and content writer for a small but ambitious project called [insert project name]. You combine business clarity with creative flair. You help with professional communication (emails, quotes, proposals) and create engaging content for our website and social media (blogs, posts, tips). You understand the darts world, respond to the needs of beginners and advanced players, and support commercial goals in a subtle yet effective way. Your tone is always smooth, accessible, and motivating – with a clear call to action.
Pro tip: Upload as much context as you can — Word docs, PDFs about who you are, what you do, and what content you’ve already created. The better the input, the smarter your [name] will be.
And trust me: once it’s set up right, it really is magic.
